Lesson Program
Now accepting new riders
Idylwood stables is a family-friendly barn offering high quality instruction in English riding to children and adults from first time riders to experienced competitive show riders. Our lesson program is structured to provide a safe balance of fun and challenge. Riding areas used for lessons include two jump arenas (one is lighted), a round pen, a covered 20 x 60m dressage ring (lighted), cross-country jumps, and a hunt course. We vary exercises to keep equine and rider engaged and alert: dressage, xc, grid work. even swimming with our horses in hot weather.

We have horses for lease. Leasing a horse allows you to ride the same horse every lesson, developing a bond with your equine partner and allowing for consistency in your riding experience. All leasing options include two group lessons a week in the fee.

Students are required to own a riding helmet, hard soled boots with regular-sized heels, gloves, and riding breeches. Optional equipment includes grooming supplies, tack and pads.
Camp Idylwood
Camp dates are set for 2024!
Space still available in our Winter camps!
WELCOME TO CAMP IDYLWOOD!!
Our comely horses and adorable ponies are ready to welcome you to Camp Idylwood!

We offer more horse time than most other kids' camp, beginning with four contact hours in the
morning, interspersed with breaks to keep young minds fresh. The day starts with simple barn
chores -- feeding and caring for the horses, including our resident baby colt! Children will then
learn the ground basics under careful supervision from experienced riders. All lessons are
conducted by our trainers. Beginners will learn to walk, steer and then trot on their horses
under the protection of our covered arena. More advanced riders will be challenged with
mounted games, field jumps, and instruction in show preparation -- which includes proper
grooming and clipping for competition.
Idylwood prides itself on its gardens and natural water features. Campers will hunt for fossils
in the limestone while looking for other critters that make up the ecosystem of the barn in its
creek and ponds. Campers will also learn how horses and people work to create soil together
through composting, and will spend time learning some gardening basics in Idylwood’s butterfly
garden and our community vegetable and herb gardens. We will fish for bass and blue gill and
practice archery on the oak-shaded rolling hills of the property.
Camp Idylwood is more than just horseback riding; it is a memory participants cherish for life!
